So without further a due, we’d like to introduce our Free Your Mind series. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

So, Jonathan Harker decides visit Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a London house. In doing so, Jonathan makes horrifying discoveries about his client and the client’s castle. Unfortunately, not long after finding these disturbing issues, a number of other incidents begin to happen in England.

An unmanned ship is shipwrecked at Whitby, weird puncture marks appear on a woman’s neck and an inmate of an psychiatric asylum begins to ramble about the imminent arrival of his ‘Master’.

In the ensuing battle of the minds between the sinister Count Dracula and a determined group of adversaries, Bram Stoker created a masterpiece of the horror genre that is still a hallmark today.

Dracula has gone on to be attributed to many literary genres including vampire literature, horror fiction, the Gothic novel and invasion literature.

It goes without saying that although Stoker did not invent the vampire, his work’s influence on the popularity of vampires has been the single reason for the many theatrical and film interpretations throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Iconic films like Nosferatu (1922), Dracula (1931) and Blade (1998) to name a few.
